About This Project:
The Carbon Cycle is one of the most basic processes linking the earth with the organisms that inhabit it. Understanding the carbon cycle is crucial to understanding the underlying workings of our earth. There is a great deal of buzz surrounding global warming and sustainability, but very little explanation of the underlying processes that contribute to the health of our planet. We hope this project sheds light on the ways that carbon moves through our closed ecosystem.

This web interactive was produced during winter 2012 by a group study class in Technocultural Studies at UC Davis. Group members worked collaboratively to prototype, design graphics, write copy, and compose the sonic experience. While all group members worked across disciplines, the primary roles were as follows:
Programming: Steve Hartzog
Design: Theron Brown
Illustration & Design: Andrea Keaveney Murphy
Sound Design: Kevin Corcoran and Dave DeFilippo
Content Composition: Quinn Norris, Colin Dixon, Mike Salcido, Todd Kaiser
Early-Stage Prototyping: Carla Orendorff
Project Management: Tim Kerbavaz (http://www.kerbavaz.com)
Project Advisers: Glenda Drew and Mary Brooke McEachern
This project was made possible by a grant from the Wolf Ridge Environmental Learning Center (wolf-ridge.org), With support from the division of Mathematical and Physical Sciences at UC Davis (http://www.ls.ucdavis.edu/mps/index.html). Facilities for this program were provided by the Design Program at UC Davis (http://design.ucdavis.edu/).
The project team would like to especially thank David Pines and Micheal Plautz for their vision and support in conceiving and developing the course.
This site is dedicated to the memory of Micheal Plautz.
