You are Carbon in the Atmosphere

High above the clouds, soaring with the greatest of ease, our motions are determined on a whim of the wind. Light floods in from space and bounces off earth’s surface, only to be bounced back again off of us, like a game of pong.

Carbon makes up about 0.039% of the atmosphere, mostly in the form of carbon dioxide. Its primary action in the atmosphere is trapping of infrared radiation heat, keeping the earth warm.

Start doing something besides warming the globe. You’re up there just trapping heat! Travel with the sun into the land of the living and become carbon in a TREE.

Go through the process of PHOTOSYNTHESIS.
Plants create their own food using the energy from sunlight to combine water with carbon dioxide from the atmosphere. Oxygen is released in the process as a waste product. But, did you know that 50% of the carbon stored by plants will return to the atmosphere through respiration as the plant lives and grows?

6CO2 + 6H2O + photon => C6H12O6 + 6O2

Carbon Dioxide + Water + Light => Sugar + Oxygen

Energy from the sun is converted into chemical bond energy in sugar in the process of photosynthesis.

Down here its deep and mysterious with so much potential for an atom like you… get out of those clouds and dive into the OCEAN.

Go through the process of DIFFUSION.
Most of the carbon on Earth resides in the oceans–50 times more than what exists in the atmosphere. Carbon is often dissolved into the water with the crashing of waves or in extreme ocean storms.

Rate of Change in Concentration = Difference in Concentration Between Two Regions

Things move from areas of high concentration to areas of low concentration in the process of diffusion.
