You are Carbon in Plants on Land

And then the carbon atom wafted from the sky amongst trillions and trillions of others and then it was pinned to a leaf from the fiery color mass above the sky that we call the sun and there it would remain ...waiting for the day which it will combust into flames and sent back to the great abyss of the atmosphere from which it came.

Photosynthesis, meaning "putting light together" converts carbon dioxide into organic matter using light from the sun.

Enter the FOOD CHAIN. Fruits and vegetables are consumed by animals which digest the sugars that are partially made up of carbon. Within the animal, carbon exists in many complex forms such as muscle, blood, bone, and brain matter. You can join hydrogen and oxygen to become fructose in apple, only to get eaten by a worm then picked out by a bird and chased down by a hungry hungry honey badger. Carbon goes through many forms in the food chain.

You're a tasty ball of fruit & deliciousness, chilling by yourself on the branch of the apple tree. Worms can't resist you; birds want to pick at you; jackals chomp on the birds, and honeybadgers feast on jackals.

The process by which a living organism absorbs sources of energy.

Choose DECOMPOSITION. Plants eventually die and decay. Carbon was stored in a leaf that falls to the forest floor. As the structures and cells of the leaf get broken down bit by bit and mix into the soil, they take the carbon with them. Fertile soil that is 57% carbon! Some of the carbon is also released through respiration by the insects and microorganism that help decompose the plant.

Plant matter that is not consumed is introduced into the biosphere and remains there until it is broken down through weathering which then enters the soil. Leaves fall in fall

The process by which the complex organic molecules are reduced to simpler forms.

Sugar = Ethanol + Carbon Dioxide
